Flamingo Land

Flamingo Land is a popular theme park and zoo that offers a wide range of attractions for all the family to enjoy. It is in the village of Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire. It was first established back in 1959 when it was originally a zoo, and the first animals it acquired were flamingos, which is how the park got its name. Their collection of animals was developed in 1963 when it became home to the first captive bottlenose dolphins in the UK, and during the 1970s, amusement rides became a permeant fixture. Since then it has become known as a great destination for a family day out, with various attractions that suit all ages and tastes. The opportunities at Flamingo Land are endless and whether you enjoy meeting some of wildlife’s most impressive animals or love a thrilling and intense ride, then you should head down to Flamingo Land to enjoy everything that it has to offer.

Thrill Rides

At Flamingo Land, you will find some of the most exciting and thrilling rides in the country that aren’t for the faint-hearted.  For example, Mumbo Jumbo uses the latest technologies and has a 112° vertical drop which makes it one of the steepest roller coasters in the world. This African-themed ride set the park back an expensive four million pounds to create, so if you are a fan of extreme rides and want to experience up to 4 g-force, then this is the ride for you. However, this popular theme park also has something different and unique to offer its visitors with their popular Velocity ride. This is the only motorbike launch coaster in the UK and reaches speeds of around 54 miles per hour. If you are a thrill-seeker then this ride is not to be missed.

Family Attractions

However, there is also a lot of fun to be had for younger visitors, or for those who aren’t as keen on breathtaking rollercoasters. The sensational Twistosaurus is a fun and rotating ride that you enjoy as a family. Your buckled seat is secured by a T bar to make the ride enjoyable, but also so that you can feel extra safe at the same time. A trip to Flamingo Land isn’t complete without an adventure on the Lost River Ride, which takes you on a safari journey and ends with a sixty-foot drop in a pool below, but with fun facts along the way. However, you might want to pack your waterproofs for this fun ride!

Zoo

There is a range of different animals that you can meet while at Flamingo Land at their on-site Zoo, from the mossy frogs that live in the Reptile River to the White Rhinoceros in the Lost Kingdom. Also, in the Lost Kingdom, you will find the King of the Jungle, the African Lion. But don’t worry, there are plenty of Flamingos to see as well!

The vast array of activities that Flamingo Land has to offer are both educational and enjoyable, meaning that it is the perfect location for a family day out!
